Brain Enhancement Program

The main feature of our Brain Enhancement Program is our multi-faceted approach used to assess the needs of children dealing with a variety of disorders such as Autism, ADD/ADHD, Tourrette’s Syndrome, learning disabilities such as Dyslexia and Neurobehavioral / Developmental Disorders. We then develop a plan that centers around the type or intervention needed to improve the child’s life and reduce the effects of these conditions. This is done by using a brain-based model which recognizes an imbalance of brain activities (between the two hemispheres) that lead to these disorders and the difficulties they present for the patient.

The most current research reveals that the above conditions are brought on by imbalance of function between the two halves of the brain. This imbalance is often responsible for many physical, cognitive, mental, and behavioral difficulties that are directly related to these disorders.

The Brain Enhancement Program provides each child with an individualized treatment protocol which addresses their specific difficulties. Dr. Alexa Parker and Dr. John Parker consistently incorporate the most up-to-date and well-documented neuroscience research to continuously improve their abilities to address these more complex conditions. We see many children in this office experiencing a variety of unique symptoms including motor issues, visual-spatial-organizational issues, sensory issues, immunity dysfunction, cognitive dysfunction, and/or academic difficulties. It’s this experience that makes Synergy Integrated Health & Medicine a leader in providing effective treatment for our patients.

The Brain Enhancement Program in practice

We recognize that ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, learning disabilities, Autism and other such conditions have similar primary underlying causes. Thus, the areas of the brain involved in these disorders require similar intervention strategies. Recognizing that an imbalance between the left and right hemispheres of the brain is the core problem, a hemispheric-based approach (stimulating one side more than the other) or achieving a balance between the two sides of the brain is the key to success. To achieve this, we use hemispheric-specific activities including motor, academic, behavioral, audio-visual, and biochemical modalities.

Environmental factors

In addition to knowing that the above conditions may be due to epigenetic Brain Enhancement Program or biological issues, we recognize that the difficulties associated with these conditions are influenced by a host of environmental factors. This means by controlling the environmental factors contributing to the problem, the conditions are often correctable.

Like many of our other programs, we are aware that while medication is effective in reducing symptoms, the symptoms return once the medication is discontinued. Thus, we return to therapy based on balancing the two parts of the brain. As functionality improves through neuroplasticity (i.e., the brain’s inherent capacity to rewire itself), the symptoms (including pain) will subside.

Thus addressing symptoms with pharmacological interventions does not improve function (and often hides underlying causes and symptoms. In essence, if the brain is out of balance, the body will be out of balance as well. The Brain Enhancement Program balances the brain and consequently the entire body/psycho-emotional complex.
